I have an issue with the Wiper switch circuit breaker in a 64 Belvedere Wagon. When the ignition switch is in the "ON" position - the wiper circuit breaker trips every 1.5 seconds, resets , trips again. off / on / off / on....over and over ....and ...the wiper switch is in the off position. When I turn the wipers on - they DO NOT work...and the trip / reset continues....

Any insight to this problem would really head me in the right direction...... Could it be a shorted wiper motor? or does this circuit breaker also feed something else?

Id start at the switch. unfortunately i dont have access to my shop manual right now but The switch is easy to reach without removal. Disconnect the wires and check the spades for continuity to ground then the wires to ground. It may be that you have a dead short in your wiper motor or a ground fault in one of feeds. But start from the switch and work your way to the motor. You can also unplug the motor and use a couple of leads and cycle the motor with a battery. If I recall a battery charger won't cycle the motor. Did they work at any point for you?

Yea...Thats already the plan....I have to hunt down a shop manual for the wiring diagram......HOPEFULLY its not the motor - just a rubbed wire.....

Found it ! Bad backup light switch !...Its connected to one side of the circuit breaker......
