I am in the process of renewing the front end components on my 64 Dodge 440 wagon. Since I have the front brakes off, I am thinking of changing out the single brake M/C for a dual brake M/C. The 440 is a manual brake car, but it has single piston floating caliper disc brakes up front (from an early 70's B-body, I guess?).

Currently the 440 engine in the car has '68 HP exhaust manifolds. As I want to install a Max Wedge exhaust system including the manifolds, I would like to know if a manual dual brake M/C will clear the driver side MW exhaust manifold. And if so, which dual M/C is best for my application?

Thanks,

not sure about the clearance thing, have not done that year.if you switch to dual master make sure you install an adjustable delay valve to rear,or a 70/30 split prop valve.you will stop way better with dual master and prop valve.i think mancini racing offers offset adapters for the master if there is a problem.also you dont need the super expensive aluminum dual masters, just use one from a 79 pickup with manual brakes.

The dual cylinder will work but there wont be much clearance with the manifold. If you plan on driving you better make yourself some kind of a heat shield, that manifold will boil the brake fluid in the master cylinder.

Thanks for the tips so far:) At the moment I have my priorities set on pulling the engine, as I found out this weekend that there seems to be a bit more going on there besides two leaking freeze plugs...
