I am getting my 64 Dodge Polara along the path to roadworthy. The all new floors are nearly done. The 318 is out, and already sold. I have a lot to do but now that I am retired I am making fantastic progress. I plan to have the body done and in primer before snow falls. Winter engine work on the 426 wedge should be a fine way to while away the snowflakes.

Anyone out there know there know how much cylinder enlargement these can take form the original 4.25"? Was it safe and what is the max?

Personally (on any engine) I would never go more than .060 over. I'm sure someone will disagree with me though!

Have the block sonic tested and go .070 over that ay you can use stock 440 pistons.

We need our photo fix. LOL I would have to agree on the .060 limit without sonic testing.

And you'll need a SS Grille, lol!!

Sounds like a cool project, pictures would be nice! Good luck with it..

Post up the car ****!!!

I was hoping to use stock 440 pistons, if I could. I will check with my machine shop, once I get the block tested. Now I just need to find a good shop in Cleveland, OH.

I will add some photos soon of my project 64 Polara. Right now she doesn't look like much. I just welded new floors into the car. The windshield leaked for decades before I got the car from Florida. I just replaced the drivers cowl and had to rebuild the passengers cowl myself since they don't re-pop these for us older Mopar car guys. It would have been easier to get a late 60's car but I love the 64 Dodge and Plymouth cars. I raced a 64 Fury when I was a kid and since I could not find one of those I found my 64 Polara and started on that.

Just put new upper control arms on today. Next week I will put the new torsion bars in and all the new front end parts.

I got my front suspension mostly done in the last two days. New everything...including disc brake conversion and new torsion bars. Took the 0.881" bars off and went with 1.03" bars. New tie rods, new upper control arms, new idler, and a new pitman arm. Should steer and ride nice and safely at >120mph. I bought a beautiful set of "like new" 15" cop wheel and dog dish caps at a swap meet for a real good price. These will be my street wheels and another set for the track.

so how did I do AMX364?

thanks for the compliment. Its a labor of love of course. Lots more to do but I have the time now to get on it. I have a 426 wedge and steel crank I plan to start on this fall. it seems buying pistons for this engine will be something of an issue. Not many available for this 4.25 bore. Push button madness is the plan.

Sounds like the power plant will be as cool as the way she looks!, I wont talk about fall though, winter follows and im trying to forget the cold and snow lol.. trouble is, it doesn't seem to want to warm up here much yet :) Good luck, it really is looking great!
