Looking good Bob, as always. Hoping you have better luck than I did with the Edelbrock valley pan. After the second one cracked I made my own out of 1/4” aluminum. Actually made 2 of them and the spare has now been reinforced. A couple of pics.

Amazing how much those valley plates implode when you put vacuum into the engine.
The valley pan I bought wasn’t from Eddy, they are out of stock with absolutely no idea if/when they’ll be available again so I bought one from Midwest Performance Products (on Ebay). This one definitely isn’t 1/4”, only about 1/16th, but that is way thicker than the factory piece. One big advantage, as I see it, are the 4 bolts per side running front to rear below the intake ports, which I don’t see on your tray, seems like these 8 bolts will help keep the tray from deforming under heavy vacuum situations.
Wondering if you’re running any type of PCV setup? I’ve heard lots of good things about the adjustable valves so may try one of those when the time comes.

Hi Bob. Yes, the plate you see has no sides. However, my factory Edelbrock plates both did have the side bolts. Both of them cracked right along the sharp bend under the bolts about the centre. At that time I was running breathers and hoses exiting to under the car which got rid of crankcase pressure. I run a vacuum pump these days, which implodes the 1/4” valley plate, which is why I have reinforced it.

Glad that the plate you’re using is thicker, it may not crack like the edelbrock ones.

Just thinking, I still have my cracked plates, I used one as a template for my current bench made ones. The reason I noticed they were cracked was the oil laying on the plate under the carb. There was no obvious way for that area to get wet.

The vacuum pump comment reminds me of when I ran one on my injected '70 Vette, the suction it created was absolutely incredible and it certainly evacuated all the crankcase pressure!!
I've never shown that car here (for obvious reasons) but here's a picture of the engine with the vacuum hose barely visible on the right front of the engine (and after I ditched the 8-stack Hilborn setup) and another of the car itself. This thing was an absolute beast, dyno'ing on a Mustang chassis dyno in the mid-500hp range. I've got a quick video showing it firing up but i have no idea how to upload videos to the blog.
