What would cause the dome lights and the tail lights to stay on and not allow the brake lights to work?

If I have the connector for the dome lights connected they stay on. If I take plug the white wire in at the brake pedal switch the lights stay on. They do not go off if I hit the brakes. I am confused here and any help is appreciated.

Your harness is burnt internally in the harness and sending power when hooked up would be my bet.

If bulbs are lit you have current flow through the circuit. Go for the low hanging fruit. Check the switches first. Do you have a volt/ohm meter? Makes checking the switches easier

I do have a volt meter. Think it may have popped the headlight switch. It would explain it if there was a short in the switch. If it is an open circuit it would explain the ground not working via the brake pedal or the door jam switch

OK, so I replaced the headlight switch, dimmer switch, and brake switch. The dash lights work now, the high beams and low beams work. The tail lights and turn signals all work. The brake lights however still stay on and so do the dome lights. I have 12v at the red wires at the pedal with the car completely off. Same for the hot wire on the dome lights. Anyone know is there a specific wire or ground I should be looking for? The car was basically stock and all original when I got it everything worked. It has to be something I have done or inadvertently done.

Thank you 5.7 Hemi. He called a friend who clarified the wiring. I tracked it back to the switch and when I installed the hydroboost and the the new pedal I didnt get them lined up. I should have taken the seat out and laid on my back and looked at it. Would have found it in a matter of minutes

So now onto the dome lights.....I'm head scratching on that one right now.

Im thinking it is a ground somewhere. They dim when I hit the door jam switch but dont go out. Count it be a glove box switch or a trunk switch?

Do you have hose lights?
