It's a very nice good running no leaks low mileage original motor. Just trying to figure out the most cost effective solution in waking up this sleeping giant! Not to go racing necessarily but to put some hair on its chest so to speak. Should I just go Holley 750 dbl pumper, 4 bbl intake, a bigger cam, TTI headers or a full stroker kit?
Your knowledge, advice and recommendations are always appreciated.

I want to build a poly 318 for my truck. Personally, I'd go with just the top end stuff.
carb, intake, cam, and headers of course.
Another purely personal opinion, I would not put a Holley dblpumper on that engine or any street engine. I like the Carter 4 bbls.

What you are talking will definitely wake it up. I would agree, unless you have (IMO) a deep pocket, or are wanting to build a race style motor, a 264/.450" ([email protected]") cam, 600 or 650cfm carb on a cast iron manifold, and headers attached to a dual exhaust is all you really need to have fun. As you probably already know, Gary Pavlovich is the guy to contact. He is very helpful in achieving what you want. Good luck and keep us posted.

I was also told by a knowledgeable hot rod builder here that MSD ignition will also contribute a lot to waking this thing up.

Performance 101... more camshaft lift, better lifter, Lighter retainers & better locks, proper valve springs & larger intake & exhaust valves with a multi-angle performance valve job, an aluminum 4bbl intake, a properly sized Holley Carb, a good fuel pump with a quality filter, a good oiling system, a decent set of properly sized headers, a 2-1/4 dual exhaust with an H or X-pipe & a K&N air-filter, hotter coil & ignition, Low Ohm resistance plug wires.... That is a decent performance street car formula for almost any engine... If you have the budget & don't want to do a motor swap, then if you really want to wake up that Poly & add some more power go with the stroker crank & ported heads too, it will be pricey for the amount of power &/or CI's you add, but probably well worth it....
