My recent project- 65 Coronet 500 - has a few wonky features. One of which is that the shift and park cable (console shifter) were shoved thru a drilled hole that comes out about intake manifold height in the firewall. Where did the factory route the cables? There is an oval shaped hole below the master cylinder but I don’t see any others. Any ideas?

There should be a couple of holes in the transmission tunnel where it widens out under the console. The park cable goes through one, and the gear shift cable goes through the other. There is a special grommet that clips into each hole that the cables pass through. At least, that is what my console-shifted '64 Polara is like. That oval hole is likely for 4-speed clutch rod.
