I bought a 1965 Belvedere with a 440 engine. I decided to remove both headers to replace the starter and paint the headers. I noticed the back of the engine sits closer to the drivers side than the front by a fair amount. I know mopar engines are off set to the passenger side but this is more angled to the drivers side in the rear. They have shimmed the motor mount studs between the k member to get pan clearance but that should just raise the engine a bit. The mounts look correct. Any idea's?

It would depend were the shims were placed.. I have a 440 in my 65' Satellite and it looks close as well w/out shims, My guess is we just got big motor's for the engine compartment area. It'd be interesting to see an original 426W in these early B-body's to compare..
U have any pics of what your looking at???

Lets see a pic !!! You have me very curious.. Here is my 64 Sport fury.

damn, Am I the only one who LOVES engine pictures!!!??? Even this incomplete example gets me going! :)

Darn it I thought I had the right pics of my 65 Coronet w/440 in it for you to compare. The heads are also offset. Can't remember which one but one is farther back and the other one is farther forward than the other. Is this what you are talking about? My motor also looks "sideways" but everything else lines up and the motor has never had any problems(bearings, vibrations ect...)

Don't mean to hi jack the thread but Moose what kinda of headers do you plan on running? I don't have the picture that is helpful to this thread but here is my motor.
