I'm fitting a plastic replicate 426 hemi in my 65 Coronet. But something isn't right.
a) The engine is offset 2" toward the passenger side. Isn't it supposed to be 1-1/2" ???
b) The engine sits too high. The crack CL to k-member is 5-3/4". Isn't it supposed to be 5-1/4" ???
c) There is only a 1/4" gap between the block and passenger shock tower. Seems to small.

I'm using reproduction mounts and isolators. The k-member was modified by Mega Parts.
I suspect my Plastic replicate block may not be correct.

1) What is the distance between the machined mounting pads an a steel block???????
2) Is the crank centerline half that distance?
3) What is the width of a steel block, with no heads??

welcome to early b-bodies. the original 65 hemi cars had a modified shock tower and i believe a notch in the tower on the passenger side to clear the valve cover. the engine will sit in a different location than a 66 or later b-body. should be a little further to the passenger side and about 1 1/2" further forward than the later b-bodies.

We had problems with this one with the engine being too high, I have no numbers for you but we also used a modified 1970 K frame to the specs for the 65 Hemi B body. Yes we did the shock tower modification. As you have found every tolerance is + or - and a 1/2'' is pretty good when it comes to Ma Mopar. We ended up shimming the K frame like the Hemi A body cars of 68 to get hood clearance. Just a thought.
