65 Mini Tubs and frame rail?

I haven't removed the rubber from the bottom of the 1/4 panels in 600 passes.

My cars previous owner hadn't either...my car is about ready to shoot and although it's not a rotisserie I would like the bottom side cleaned up a little, just to have an even coat of bedliner...there's probably 20lb of rubber stuck to each well...lol!

Mine aren't as nicely done as yours - mine looks like patchwork quilting . . . and I got rid of my wheel lip too ( rolled it over - kinda ) . . .

Had to do a little interesting cutting to work around the braces . . .

This made a big difference and helped out a lot ! !

Here is what the tubs look like in my '65 Coronet. These are 15 inches wide inside so I can run a 13 inch wide tire and have lots of room on each side as long as the offset is correct. We left the inner lip when we did these since it makes the job cleaner and I didn't need more than 15 inches of space.

I wire brushed the entire inside of the wheel well and cut on the seam. I then cut the lip off of my frame rail. I also cut the “rolled” part of the inner wheel well off and welded it solid to the frame rail. I didn’t notice any weakness/strength issues regarding cutting the lip off the frame rail. I spot welded the entire thing, Ground them all down. Fiberglass on the bottom side of the wheel tub. Sprayed the entire thing with black undercoating. I used seam sealer in the trunk part and spatter painted over the entire trunk. It was a ton of work, but now I’m gonna pull them out and do full tubs. But that car is on down the line. That was on a 65 Coronet

Here's how I did my Dad's 65 Coronet last month:

14 gauge from the front leaf pocket to the rear shackle tube. This stiffened the car up for reducing the energy lost in flex and make the cage more effective. Lip was removed by the tub.
