I been looking at SS springs and they list them for automatic cars? Do they list a different part number for 4 speed cars or do you just use the ones for automatics? I'm looking for a 3800lbs set.

Not sure but the 3000# SS springs still seem like the manual transmission deal.

The used to make manual 3800# and auto 3800# SS springs, but I think they dropped the manual ones many years ago.

Old numbers list
P3690458-9 automatic 3800 lb (not a good number)
P3690267-8 Manual 3800 lb (still good number)
taken from Direct Connection "blue book" 1978
edit: Remember to use the c-body shocks (1 inch longer)
the manual springs show up correct in internet search, but...might not be.

Interesting...... that makes it look like MP dropped the AUTOMATIC springs and kept the 4spd ones & calling them automatic or something like that.

So far Summit and Mancini only list Automatic SS springs. I have tried the P3690267-8 part number it is discontinued. I will call one off them tomorrow and see what they say. I'm sure that they will tell me they are the same. I bought a pair years ago and it was manual or automatic. The part that bugs me is they clearly state for an automatic car in the listings. Thanks for the help.

Many Mopar dealerships, parts departments will sell this stuff as well. Just need to find one in your area who will work with you. The benefit here is you won't pay shipping as the stuff will come in with their parts stock order......in most cases. Might be worth looking into.

They are all junk and won't retain their arch for more than a year if you're actually using them. I found out the hard way. Should have listened...

What are you planning with the car that you require SS springs? Now this is being asked by someone who has had them on a daily driver. My useage had about 1 tire revolution before hookup, however I also had to remove the factory rear sway bar due to change in handling.

It looks like they dropped the 4 speed springs and don't list them anymore. I'm pretty disappointed hearing that the new Mopar Performance SS springs quality isn't very good. I have had them on other cars over the years without any problems. I know that the Caltrac System is the way to go if you really want the car hook up. This car is going to be used as a street car with an occasional trip to the track. Looking to put 15"x275x 60 under it with steel 8" wheels trying to give it the nostalgic look and feel without breaking the bank so I can still work on my other projects. Thanks for all the feedback!

You would think leaf springs would be pretty basic, but they aren't. Yesterday I went to a leaf spring manufacturer He got out his old tech books, 1964 Dodge 440 - not listed so use Polara as with many other instances. I want something heavier duty than stock. So we have Police and Taxi, station wagon, stock and maybe even more. Some are 5 leaf, some are 6 leaf, some are 7 leaf. and they are different thicknesses. For instance-- You can get a 6 leaf that is stronger than a 7 leaf because of the different thicknesses. Owner is getting a little impatient as I am asking all kinds of questions, trying to choose what I want. Not even getting into Max Wedge with 6 leaves on one side and 7 on the other. He needs to get back to his work. . I'm mostly just wanting to raise the rear of my car about 2" above stock with a little heavier duty. So I chose Station wagon springs. Can pick up in about one week ..cost $300 for the pair. .....................................MO

Cornpatch I was at a spring 45 years ago! He said the main leaf on station wagon springs was 2 inches longer than other models. I don't know if this was fact, was a kid then. Didn't question him.

Far as I know '62 -'64 B bodies had 20" front segments, '65 B Bodies total oddball, 21" front segments, '66 & later B & E bodies 22" front segments. SS springs all have the 20" front segments. SS Spring designs have really changed over the years. I copied my buddies 02/03 springs from mid '70's, very different from a buddies 02/03 from late '80's. Not at all sure about the other spring numbers.
