Okay so I came home from work the other night and was perusing eBay when I saw a chrome 426 air cleaner that was ending in a few minutes. So, I ended up winning it, paid and unfortunately THEN I read the full description. It seems someone had riveted a pie tin type thing to the top of the air cleaner. I thought these came on wedge cars but after researching these a bit I found conflicting reports on which cars had the "commando 426" decals on the air cleaner. I have read that Plymouth cars had the decal and dodge didn't. Also read thar only c bodies with a 426 had the chrome air cleaner with the commando decal. So now, I would obviously like to cover the rivet holes with a decal, but was wondering if the air cleaner decal would be correct for a 65 belvedere. So here I am asking again for you guy's two cents. What is correct??? Secondly, some genius used a fair amount of "adhesive" to secure the pie tin.(I guess the rivets might not hold). What do you guys think I could use to remove this stuff without damaging the chrome? Thirdly, this air cleaner had the wrong base(see photo). It completely seals up the air cleaner, not allowing any air in. It's for a snorkeled one I'm guessing. I have heard that the bases for these are reproduced. Anyone know if that's true? Okay well I suppose that is enough air cleaner questions for one night. Thanks in advance for the schooling guys!
