New to Bbodies been on Abodies a lot, picked up a few sets of 906 heads 68 and 69’s ones rebuild stainless valves, ported (not sure by who) other set stock, and two bottom ends, ones is ran a little since rebuilt 1966 hp and a 1971hp that has been machined, stock rods, balanced KP pistons. Lunati new solid cam and lifter few other things to get it togeather, picked them up for a good price, what (ball park) would these possibly be worth, I have always been into Abodies/340’s, any info is appreciated, thanks

Pictures of the stamping and casting numbers would aid in a valuation. There were 440's in 66, but any 66 casting would be stamped for 67 if it's a HP. If it's a 66 for a 66, it would more than likely be the 350 horsepower engine for the C bodies. Is the 71 stamped G 440 HP. Please provide more information.

Photos attached, the 66 has a blank pad

That 66 engine is very interesting. I have never seen anything stamped SHP. Your 71 casting engine is a 72 HP by the H 440. Maybe someone else can elaborate on it. It's definitely a 66 by the B 66 and would be correct with no VIN stamping. Thanks the pictures are as they say worth a thousand words. Are both these engines just the short blocks? Your 906 heads would be correct for 68-70. The 66 more than likely would be 516's and the 72 more than likely 452's. Both are unique as there were not many 72 440 HP cars, and the 66 by the stamping on the pad. Still both are just buildable cores. I say 3-6 hundred on the short blocks. $100 on the stock 906's. Maybe a little more on the ported 906's depending on the quality of the work. Please remember, just an opinion, some may say more. The guy at the end of the rainbow that has the car to go with the VIN on the 72, who knows.

My uncle bought a new 1966 300 4 door hardtop. it had a dual snorkel air cleaner. Pie plate had TNT on it. It had a 365 hp engine.

Maybe the change from 516 heads in 66 to 915 heads in 67 made the 10 horsepower difference. I just have never seen a HP stamp on a 66. I never say never.

The other odd thing is 68 & earlier doesn't normally have the raise area on the side where the VIN gets stamped...

The 71 cast engine came from a 72 C body, the VIN begining with 2 means 72 Model Year & the C means Jefferson assembly plant where they built C bodies..

I just googled 1966 300 440 for sale, there are a few, and the pie plate shows TNT 365. I have a magazine article from one of the magazines back in the day, that did an article on the 300n TNT. Think it had a different cam for one thing.
.

H. power ratings weren't so accurate in the gross H. power days. 440 Magnum =375. 426 street wedge = 365 with small 4 BBL, dead cam, 516 heads. I have a 66 TNT 440 out of a 66 300 and its identical to the 426 st wedge except for larger 440 bore

Wish I knew the back story to them, got them in a kinda crazy BB engine, head, and intake lot and mainly tried to just grab the best stuff first trip, the 71 because it had been machined with stuff to rebuild it and the 66 because it was early, rest were 72 stamped and up, and just grabbed the heads that had the biggest valves, and adjustable rockers,

Yes the 71 casting is a 72 model year and would have come with 346 heads. 452 heads were 76-78
Probably 500.00 for a good short block

Had to run out there and check, scared the hell out of me, that pic does look like a crack, think its a line of shellack from the FP install lol
