I've noticed that the reproduction covers for these all have the same stitching pattern, but have a pretty well-defined "tuck and roll" bump between each row of stitches. The rear covers in mine are not split, have the same stitch pattern, but are flat. I feel like a good number of pictures I've seen of original ones seem to also be flat. is this just an age thing where they have flattened out over time, or did they come flat from the factory?

The '66 had a horizontal pattern, '67 was vertical. I think there is a layer of batting sewn into the covers that gives a little shape to the pattern. The batting goes flat over time and the vinyl also shrinks pulling everything tighter.

Ok excellent, so the repro ones are accurate. I am going to talk to my local shop about making them from scratch, I have a really good guy and would prefer to give him the money if the cost would be about the same as buying and installing them. From our discussion on the phone, I think it would be very close.

Some seat covers have heat pressed patterns that a local upholstery shop just can't duplicate properly. I think those covers are just stitched so you may have luck with the local guy. Of course, if you need door panels and such to match you may have better results buying it all at one time from one place...

That's a no- go on the charger door panels..

Thankfully my door panels are in remarkably good shape, just need the carpet portion replaced.
