From what I can tell the windshield frames/a-pillars are the same on a 66-67 hardtop to a 68-70 convertible. The geometry changed at 68, but only on the hardtops. Can anyone confirm this synopsis? Thanks!

The windshield is definitely the same.....but I'm not sure on the a-pillar windshield frames.....not sure on the interior a-pillar pieces either. I always see them listed (windshield & interior) as "convertible" parts. Please let me know what you find out & I know a guy who probably has the windshield trim....but probably wants to sell it as a set.

This is what I found out. After measuring sections with calipers and angles with a protractor, I have determined that the a-pillars are the same for the most part. I have attached photos below to help explain. There is some type of drip rail on the hardtop that is not on the convertible. However, the drip rail is formed out of the bottom piece of steel. With this being said, I believe I can cut along the bottom and the drip rail will just fall off. And..... It seems that the pinch seam lip will be the same length (outward) as the convertible pinch seam lip after cutting it off the hardtop version.

That is crazy useful information!!! There's no picture of the top of the a-pillar in your convertible picture.....but if I'm understanding you correctly.....You can take a 66/67 hardtop a-pillar, cut the top off it, cut off the "drip rail thingy", re-weld that seem where you cut & Voila! you have a 68-70 b-body convertible a-pillar....right?

Yes! And now its been done. A 66-67 hardtop with a/c into a 68-69 convertible non a/c. The a-pillars are made up of three individual pieces spot welded together. I cut them in a way to leave me a 6 inch overlap from one a-pillar to the other. Everything is measuring spot on!
