has any one had to replace the rear crossmember in 66 belvedere. need to know were it is weld to.

the trunk pan wraps over the top.....there is a row of welds you can see on the pan..... the latch support probably blocks a couple, you need to get creative or remove the support.

you also need to remove the two thick plates to get to the welds connecting it to the frame rails

then there are the ends that bridge to the trunk drop offs

I've always had to replace the pan (and everything else) anyway, so it made the jobs easier

thanks, so it is welded to the 3 tabs on each side of the frame rails,(one on rear spring hanger) then spot welded under the oval holes for bumper bracket, 2 spots for each hole ? then the thick plates welded to the cross member. the last step spot weld the trunk pan to the top of the cross member, any thing else. Like your dog ! Great pics

66-70 B's are all put together the same way.......... trunk pan attaches to top of crossmember and wraps over; and the tail light panel attaches to the trunk pan ........ there's a lot of detail in this thread, should answer all your questions

just a little off the back and sides please

page 8 has a lot of what your looking for in particular.......
