hi guys...today i pulled off the front wheels of the 66 belvy and discovered ....DISC BRAKES.

was this an option for this year....or did someone FRANKENSTEIN these things on here?. the car DOES NOT have power brakes but there is a modern master cylinder..( 2 chamber) . on it....looks like from a truck or van....its the plastic kind with 2 screw off caps.

i also cranked up the torsion bars. the front end was so damn low , that i couldnt get my floor jack under the K frame...lol..( shackles have been ordered....no grumbles please....lol )...sorry but im old school when it comes to looks....i love the nose draggin' and the tail waggin' .

i also would like to put matte black hood stripes on it....id like them to be 9...( kinda almost like a 69 road runner ) inches or so wide....does anyone make decals to my specs that you know of ??:headbang:

also,,,its time to get new mag wheels. theres mag 500's on it now but i already have them on my road runner and dont really want to have 2 hot rods with the same wheels. if anyone has any ideas or pix of their 66-67 belvy ...id love to see your wheels to get idearrrrrrrrrs !:headbang:

since im off tomorrow ( 4th of july )...ill be fixing that annoying exhaust leak ...AND ATTEMPT TO GET THE BACK UP LIGHTS WORKING. ( i need an assistant )

A 66 would have a single master cyl so I suspect the discs were added, or at least the MC was. The only factory option disc brakes would be the Bendix 4 piston and I'm pretty sure those started in 66 and I know they went to 69. 70 got the single piston sliders. Check your calipers. The fender tag would reveal if it was a factory disc brake car, and if it was I suspect that's pretty rare.

i had the brakes and rotors off and the caliper is one huge piston. it does not look like they were added recently...all the front end components are equally gooked up...(patina...lol)

the calipers are the kind where you have to put the inner shoe in the slot...and the outer shoe in the caliper itself to install the caliper back on. i never had a car this old with discs on it so im going to claim stupidity to cover my ***. thanx for the input!:headbang:

with the newer master, I would suspect a conversion. I mean most mopar brakes will interchange anf look correct, like meep meep stated the fender tag tells all! and the wheel choice, I like to look of torque thrust and crager s/s wheels are never a bad choice. IMHO

Here's mine, American Racing 200S, 15x7, w/ 235/60r/15 BFG Radial T/A

Check with your local sign shop. If all you want is a pair of dual stripes without any taper, it should be a straight forward design.

Never any single piston sliders in 66 so someone did a conversion. Nothing wrong with that and the up side is parts are readily available and cheap. Be happy you don't have to deal with corroded piston bore leaking Bendix calipers!

i think ill go with a matte black and grey theme on this one....havent decided if i wanna put the huge "PLYMOUTH" decals on the quarters or not.....probably not.

the paint is a gorgeous color,,,,kinda like shiny grey primer. i think the matte black will set it off. well im off to fix an exhaust leak at the header pipe....wish me luck

These wheels would look great...

matte black would set it off with the color of the car, its hard anymore with so many choices of design and color. I still love the looks of the key stone classics but a lot depends on the body style which ones look good on individual styles and color combos, like your color and the black setting it off, which i agree.

keystone classics is EXACTLY what i want to put on the belvy......but i HATE UNILUGS....and i havent found keystone classics made in a 4 1/2 bolt pattern....theyre all unilugs...unless i havent been looking in the right place.

BELVY UPDATE:.....exhaust leak fixxed........pulled the rear wheels....all is good.......detailed all wheel wells....... finally got to put a few miles on it today....that 440 is a beast i tellya !...with the exhaust leak fixxed , you can really hear that hemi cam...lots to do to it yet....but its 94 degrees in Pittsburgh and i dont fare well in this heat. i was up at 6:30 am tearing apart the exhaust to get that done but i got alot more done than i thought i would!...happy 4th dudes!:headbang:
