I really like the look of the stock air cleaner...but I'm changing the carb to an Edelbrock 1406 and, as I'm sure you all know, the stock air cleaner doesn't fit. I went as far as to buy another stock air cleaner, with the idea that I'd cut it up. It looks like a lot of work and the results might not be acceptable.

Has anyone been successful? Maybe there's a base that fits this application?
 
The 68 up base has the 5 1/8'' opening.Early base is 4 7/8''. Your lid, is it silenced dual snorkel or open un-silenced ?

i think i looked at one today while sorting some parts,
just the base ill check it against an edelbrock and let you know

nvm,turned out to be the same as what you have,66.
