Hello folks, I am trying to bench test my 66 Charger AM radio. I know the red wire, green/black speaker wire and ground screw at back hook ups. Does anyone know what the white wire with pigtail is for? Do I need that for the bench test? Maybe it ties into the electroluminecent lighting system? Any help is much appreciated. Thank you! Red

Yes it the wire for the EL lighting.

I hope it works for you

You will need an actual antenna or a few feet of a piece of wire contacting into the center pin of the antenna jack to get any reception of radio stations.

Yes I thought without having an antenna hooked up, you risk damaging a transistor

This. If you have a spare antenna, that could work. I have found that for some a jumper between the antenna shield and the radio helps reception, their ground points want to be common.

Thank you all! Tested it, use a 14 gauge wire as my antenna, she works! Now, all I have to do is test the speaker (or what's left of it)...Hoping this old man can crawl up under there and get to it from the underside. I appreciate the assist! At least, thanks to this site, I've got the go to place for an exact fit replacement speaker. Upward and onward.
