'66 Coronet interior in Plymouth...

Restoring a Satellite, will basically redo the entire interior due to worn/broken stuff and decades of previous owners' bad decisions... seats are covered with home made vinyl which I'll replace with original western-scroll covers. Door panels are in fair condition, but they sure don't belong in a Satellite. If I understand my Classic Industries catalog correctly, door panels are from a '66 Coronet - black vinyl with grey carpet section. Those will go - hopefully to a Coronet owner in need - and the correct ones will be obtained.

There's a carpeted section in the bucket seat backs too - I'm guessing those belong to a Coronet too. My question is, can those be removed, or do I have to replace the entire seat back cover?

I have no problem locating door panels etc. Hard parts, however, are a different story. What I really need to know is what a '66 Satellite bucket seat back looks like if it's not supposed to have the Coronet-specific carpeted lower section. Do I need to swap the entire bucket seat back covers or can I just swap the lower part?

IIRC Satellite and Coronet 500 both had carpet on bottoms of seat backs.

Belvedere and Coronet 440 did not.

I think you're OK to keep those.

Thanks, YY1. I have no reason to doubt that, but when I checked the Classic Industries web page, it only mentioned Charger, Coronet 500 and Coronet R/T - no Plymouth applications. CI might've gotten it wrong, and I have not sufficient knowledge. That's why I was hoping for Coronet Men to chime in.

I'm basically thinking that if I'm going to sell the Dodge interior pieces, I'll include the back panels so a possible buyer would have a color match. And - I'm a purist nerd too, admittedly - want to keep interior all Plymouth

Here's a pic of a Satty I found while image searching. Those seat backs look different. Would those lower panel pieces be solid plastic, or some kind of vinyl without the carpet part?

I don't think that's a factory correct combo in that pic.

I've never seen different color seat backs.

I have seen black and gold, but IIRC the seat backs are the same color as the seats.

Ah, I see. Well, the red/black does look a bit strange. Still, those seat backs don't have carpet. Is that insert made of the same plastic as the rest of the seat back?

My point was that the seat backs and other parts of that interior appear not to be correct for the car they are in, which suggests that the example is not a good one to judge correctness of any part.

We really need a true reference interior, or factory brochure.

Ah, ok. Have to admit I was so happy to finally find a photo of those seat backs, I didn't pay much attention to the rest of the interior
But yes, an accurate reference pic would be nice to see.
