66 Coronet Hemi car was running great. Took it in for some interior work and when I picked it up, car would start, run good for about 30 seconds then shut down as though someone turned off the key. Try restarting and it cranks and cranks and cranks. Let it sit for ten minutes and it will start right up and run for about 30 seconds, then dies again. I can repeat that cycle all day long. Any suggestions other than to start with all the basics: new coil, getting fuel, orange ignition box, etc.?
Thanks
Mike

someone bet the **** out of it :eek:

car Starts then shutdown after 30 seconds then hard to start?.. check carb for fuel after it shuts down and do a Check fuel pressure.

run a hose from the fuel pump to a can.
eliminate any problems at the tank.

1. Single Carb or dual Carb?
2. New gas or old gas
3. Carb type?
Reason I ask is:
Single carb, and "Carter" or Edelbrock, could be the slow idle circuit, accelerator pump, damaged from old gas or just deteriorated.
Holley carb, not that issue.
Do as the others suggested, turn key after you disconnected fuel line and check flow

I had the same problem when the fuel filter was blocked. When the engine cut out all the crud in the filter sank to the bottom after 10 minutes or so and the engine would start again. After running it for a while the crud would work it's way back into the filter and shut off the fuel.

Wiggle the bulk head connectors at the firewall. I was having an auto shut off issue before & that is what it turned out to be.
