I am in the process of doing some touch-up work on some interior pieces. I ordered a can of Herbs Interior Paint. I am very impressed with the color accuracy; not so much with the coverage. The rear trim panels in the pictures has 6 coats. I assume that since the paint is designed to penetrate into plastic/vinyl/carpet, it will not cover base color abnormalities or scratches.

The main thing I will be painting/color-matching closer to spring is a door shell that is now black; want to paint it red to match the rest of the interior. Again, since this paint is so transparent, I doubt that it will cover the black paint to match.

Has anyone used a metal primer, prior to applying Herbs Interior Paint? Considering a "red metal primer" in this case.

I used Herbs paints on interior soft trim and it worked well. I would not use it on metal, not saying you can't but I don't think it's designed to be used on the doors or metal parts like you have there. You would use base/clear or single stage auto paint on those parts.

Thank you; my thoughts exactly. Which leads me to my next question... Where would a guy find a paint code for Metallic Red?

The Chrysler paint code is AAY2R7 and the Ditzler code is 71476. Paint codes can be found in the different year service manuals in section 23. For the 66 model year Dodge applications, it is in subsection 102.

Wonderful! Thanks for the help.
