66 Satellite turn signal lens

Had turn signal lenses off car, and one had spots of black spray paint dotted on it. Sprayed with carb cleaner, please don't crucify me, and while it took the spots off, it left the lens milky looking.
Anyway, I also tried WD-40, soap and water, and window cleaner. Frosty look still there. Two questions: is the lense salvageable cleaning with something else, and would a razor blade been more effective?

I got reproduction pieces they aren't terribly expensive. I think I bought them from classic industries or maybe Vans? I can look if need be

Think Vans on ebay $33 ea free shipping. Original had gray gasket Vans are black.

Try some plastic polish. Sold at most all auto parts stores.

Sand it with some 600 then polish it....if it isn't brittle. Should come out pretty good.

It doesn't appear Van's sells those anymore for the '66 model. There are a few places that do, like Layson's and MegapartsUSA.
I do need a new one to replace the other one that's all cracked up, but hopefully the sandpaper will work on the other one. Thanks

It shows they are not in stock, doesn't necessarily mean they are discontinued.
I'd give them a call.

I see they make gray gaskets now. Ebay best is $117 wow for a pair with gray gaskets. Probably better deal else where.

Once fogged up odds are against you can polish them out. But its definitly worth a try

You can get a paint polishing kit for models ate Hobby Lobby.
it has grits from about 3000 to maybe 12000 or so.
start with the lowest and work your way to the top. then hit them with a plastic polishing compound.

Im pretty sure PG classic is/was the manufacturer and they no longer show them avail. So maybe been discontinued.

If thats the case ,,I may think about grabbing a set to put away just in case . Thankfully my car has NOS in it

Has anyone tried using one of the "plastic headlight restore kits" available at auto parts stores on old OEM lenses? Some of them work very good on clearing up fogy headlight covers on newer cars.

I put 2 NOS on my car. Friend said take the center chrome button put RTV on the button. Put on lens and leave gap so button isn't touching lens, let dry. After it's dry a little RTV on nut don't tighten completely. Did both at the same time, 5k later one has cracked.

I tried using the 600 grit sandpaper on the lens and thought it worked well, but once it was dry, the frosty look reappeared. I may just order the pair and keep "Frosty" as a spare!

Try a buffing wheel with a little fine buffing compound.

WOW, while most manufacturers have those listed in the $55 each range, I did find a source for 45 on eBay. This blows me away for only $35. I tried using the 600 grit sandpaper on the lens and thought it worked well, but once it was dry, the frosty look reappeared. I may just order the pair and keep "Frosty" as a spare!

I will let you know quality. I just bought a set of the ones from yearone at $35 each

Mine are ok but I have a feeling these are going away. So I wanted a spare set for that someday mishap

Only difference i can see is the lettering on the lower face of the lens
My nos one have GRB .
Then the DCPD insigina above the SAE DP -66R

The repos just have the sae and related lettering.

My gut tells eme these are going away. So i bought a set.....just in case

I didnt REALLY need them.
BUT,,,,, I just wanted a pair for the shelf,,,,Just in case . And NOS are to rich for me,,,,, especially for no more of a difference than from OE.


ps, any chance you gonna get out this way for a show in the future ???
