Does anyone know the correct finish on 67 440 Dual Point Distributor? It is the cast iron body. Is it semi-gloss black, or flat black?

Pics are welcomed!

Thank you

I have an early dual point and it appears to be semi gloss. Its stored away, but its the version without an o-ring groove.

Greetings: I have an original car I purchased new. The dual point distributor has never been restored. It appears to be satin or flat. Hope this helps.

Does it just use a gasket to seal it to the block then?

If it doesn't have an o-ring it needs a gasket. The last one I bought was metal with a raised bead in center. Probably came in a gasket set. Paper would work, compass an scissors make one.

Attached is the distributor that I will be using. I believe it hasn't been painted yet. Does it like black satin to you guys?

Yes don't go to heavy just a light coat.

I rebuild them all I have ever seen was satin, wears off fast though. I have only seen the prestolights dual point factory in cast iron. Don't drop it the upper case will break like glass, believe me I know from experience on a customers. Very expensive lesson to replace it.

Thanks for the tip. I'll go buy some satin black paint today then.
