Was wondering what everyone is using on a big block 67 Belvedere. The factory cable is way too short and comes in at a terrible angle(comes thru the firewall way low for my liking).
Car was originally a small block car so I knew the cable would be a little short and figured on doing some fab work.
I looked up a big block cable at year one(WOW). At their price I can almost buy a Lokar universal cable and an aftermarket pedal assembly. I figured I'd ask here. I have seen many really nice cars and figured why reinvent the wheel when I know someone before me ran into this as well.
My set up is 512 low deck, Edelbrock heads and M1 intake w/4150 holley
Photos of your set up would be great if you have them.
Thanks

On my 63 Plymouth Sport fury I use a Lokar cable and the stock pedal assembly and it works great for me. I just bought the Lokar cable and carb mounting bracket for the cable and put it on. You cut the cable to the lenth you need and it has been on my 63 since 2006 and still working like new. It was simple to install and I have no complaints at all with it. I use a 440 R/B block and the Indy dual plane intake with a Holley 850 DP. Ron

I believe this is a better pic of the cable at the carb. This is an older pic when I had the old valve covers on the eng and no heat shield under the carb. Ron

I used the original cable on the 66 when going from the 318 poly to 383 with no issues.

Thanks Ron that will work. I can put my current throttle cable bracket(AR Engineering)back on my Cuda instead. Do you remember what length you went with.
Mopar 3 B I tried mine w/a factory 383 bracket and mine was still a couple inches short. But who knows what cable the previous owner had on this car. I've been changing and correcting things for almost 2yrs now.

I used the cable from my original '67 318 on my 440 with RPM intake, 1/2" spacer, and 850 Holley.

Sorry but I put my cable in my car in 2006 and dont remember which lenth I bought. But I do remember it was to long and I had to cut it to the right lenth and I remember the guy at Mancini telling me which lenth to buy as he seemed to know about what lenth I should need so he sold me the longer one and told me I will have to trim it to the right lenth. He said the shorter one would be too short. I seem to remember them (Lokar) selling just two lenths back then and he told me I would need the longer one. Ron

Is it just a ball at the pedal end? If so do you know the size?

I also use the Lokar cable, but still having issues with full throttle.

From what I remember its just a ball the same size as a stock cable as I use the stock pedal. I will have to go in the garage and lok at it as its been a long time ago when I put it on but as I said I believe its a ball the same size as a stock cable. I can say as because of what Hemi-Itis said that I bent the rod on my pedal unit up some so it would give me more pedal travel for full throttle. Ron

Above is what I did also.
Works great.
Indy tall single plane with a Dominator and 1/2 inch spacer.

I wish I could. I'm guessing that my cable is from a only 318 because that's what was originally in the car but the prior owner had so many things cobbled up unsure what the cable really is from.
I wish I had taken pictures of some of the crap I've ran into. People would be amazed at how some people do things.
What I ended up doing was I got a cable from a D100 my brother was scraping(figured why not see what happens before ordering the Lokar). The cable was 27" long. It will let me use the AR Engineering cable mount I already had. The throttle will now pull almost straight back. Nice smooth pedal and carb opens fully. I've ordered a new one only because my brothers was frayed but it was good enough to mock everything up. Now on to the next adventure w/this car. Lol

1st bend was too far and the roller was too far, retweaked it and it's good. Also put 2 lugnuts under the bottom of the pedal assembly.Works better than ever!!
