I have 67 coronet 440 automatic, i have no kick down lever for the 727, i'm wondering if i could modify a GM style kick down cable to work with it, have any of you guys done this? finding the right linkage looks like a head ache

Choose your preferred headache. You can make anything work.
Many folks have parts bins with these levers and such.

If using the mechanical stock type linkage. You have to use the 3 pc bellcrank system. The one rod system will not work

Check in with Mancini or A&A Trans. I bought the missing bell cranks and KD arm for the trans from them[ Mancini]. Kerndog hooked me up with the rods and adjusters. Also I bought the manifold bracket that AR Engineering makes for my Edlebrock manifold, from Mancini too. Now I have stuff that works. The PO put on some generic cable units on my car for the accelerator and KD. Neither worked worth a damn. Word is that the Bouchillon cable setup works like a charm for the KD. I went oe and lower dollar.

The Bouchillion system is idiot proof. Expensive and worth every penny.
