67 Coronet tire fitment

Anyone know if you can fit a 275/60R15 on the rear of a 67 Coronet. I'm thinking maybe a 15x8 wheel with a 5" backspacing?

I can't answer your question directly, but my '66 has H70-15's on the back, and you have to deflate them for wheel well clearance to remove them.

I have 255/70R15 and have the same problem.

Thanks for the feedback...I do know that a 70 series 15" tire is taller than I want to go.

235-75-15's rubbed whenever I pulled into a steep driveway at an angle. They rubbed inside up high....and were mounted on 15x7 cop car wheels.

Jeff...thanks for your reply. That's the size I would like to go with but I heard it was tight. I was thinking I needed more backspacing like 4 3/4 because of the lack of clearance outboard.

p255/60R15 with 4.5" backspacing... fills the wheel well up fairly well. I would recommend rolling the inner fender lip if you wanna try 275's. It would be tight

Hi I'm running 275 50 15 bfg drag radials on 4.5 inch back spacing with stock suspension, but the front hangers are upside down lowering the back end about 2 inches. This setup works well on my 67 coronet R/T and 8.5 wheels.

We fit 275/60-15(4.5 bs) on my brothers Coronet but ended up cutting the wheel wells.

I've noticed that different tire manufacturers have differing tread and section widths. I would call the local tire shop or tire companies and determine what there specs are before going all in on New skins.
