My Satellite had chrome door edge guards when I bought it. I took them off during resto and never reinstalled them. I have seen few, if any, other cars over the years that had them, so I always assumed they were probably installed by a previous owner - there were several JC Whitney doodads on the car when I got it. I just saw a GTX for sale on eBay that has them and they look like the ones I took off. Does anyone know if they were a factory or dealer installed option for 67 Plymouths? Might have to dig mine out and reinstall them.

I do not believe that they were available as a factory option but was sold through the dealerships as a factory accessory. Also as you mentioned, they were also sold back in the day through the various parts suppliers like Napa and JC Whitney. Also, you could buy them in a basic generic length or the more correct applications which followed the profile of the door shell.

Are yours metal or plastic? A lot of that type stuff - door edge guards, body side moldings and mud flaps - started becoming popular accessories in the early 70s. I ordered a new 75 T/A back then and spec’d body side moldings. I removed them years later and found one side had been installed over a small door ding so they were apparently installed at the dealer level. I would suspect your door edge guards were aftermarket, installed by an owner.

They are metal, not plastic, and have the notch at the lower body line crease just like the ones in the pics above. Always made me think they were made for the car rather than being generic ones, but they could still be aftermarket.

None of my 3 other 67s have/had them, but they were all lower option dealer lot cars whereas this one is a highly optioned ordered car. It also has what I think might be the original dealer-installed floor mats with the Mopar logo.

I found a set on a 68 sport sat...... metal, chrome, very accurate fit....... did not appear aftermarket to me....... I think I gave them to Pistol Pete

I have a box full of NOS Mopar door edge mouldings but I don't think I have any for a 67. Most
of them are for 70 and up cars.
I'll have a look this week

Well, that answers that. Whether a factory option or Mopars dealer accessory, apparently they were available that early.

One of my 70 Chargers have a pair installed. They were on the car when I purchased it back in the mid 80's and they have a factory Chrysler part number on them. They are stainless steel and and made specifically for the car.
