67 gtx cigarette lighter/ phone charger

Hay was wondering if anyone has ever seen this.cigarette lighter works correctly, cherry red.but if I plug in a cell phone charger adapter no beans, I've tried different brands to no avail,and the same adapters work fine in my modern everyday car anyone have the same issue? And a fix other than carrying a battery pack charger thanks in advance.

It's either not contacting the power pin at rear or poor ground path from charger to recepticle.

maybe the center of the socket needs cleaning. They get kind of crusty from using the lighter, which has a wider contact point.

also, turning the adapter around in the socket sometimes helps because the ground doesn't always make contact properly. Some sockets only have one point to make the contact on the side and it has to line up with the adapter ground strap sticking out.
