I am removing the OEM manual steering gear box and installing a OEM power steering box in my 67 GTX with a floor mounted manual transmission. Does the steering shaft need to be shortened and drilled for this swap? I'm using the OEM coupling also.

The manual steering shaft is definitely longer than a power steering shaft. By how much i don't know. The only time I have done this swap, I had a power steering column also.

The hard shaft can be collapsed and re-pinned to limit the amount of cutting off. At least on a 68. Can't speak to a 67.
