I started a thread about this car in the new members forum. Just to give a little back on the car, it belonged to my father in law who purchased it back in 1970. After driving the car for a number of years as his daily driver during the summer months he ended up having to drive it year around. In Michigan the salt didn't take long to start doing it's magic on the body. His plan was to restore the car and as so many times happens he parked the car, years went by and his health failed. He passed away in November of 2014. The car was passed on to my wife which is the little girl in the photo.
Long story short the car is in rough shape and will be a long term project. To aid in the rebuild I purchased a 4 door belvedere this last year.

This is a picture of the condition of the car currently. As you can see I have my work cut out for me. If you go to the welcome wagon forum and look for hand me down 67 GTX you can find out more about the car and see more photos.

This is a photo of the parts car I purchased.
As you can see I have removed the doors and roof, my plan is to use the floor pan and frame rails from this car.
I have removed about 90% of the sound deadening from the underside of the floor pan. So far its seems to be rather solid.
I also plan on using the rear wheel wells and the drivers side rear quarter.

Great project, I'm subscribed. Do you plan to restore to stock or modify?

The plan is to restore to stock, it won't be numbers matching but not pro touring either. I would like to upgrade the brakes to disc in the front for safety and the original 440 was pulled years ago. It currently has a 426 wedge, which I am trying to get freed up. Any case I will stay with a engine of the period, nothing beats the sound of a big block!

I haven't had much time to work on the GTX, I have been busy trying to get my wives truck back up to ship shape. Anybody that lives in michigan knows what the salt does to the rear doors on a Tahoe. I was able to find a pair out of Alabama that are in great shape just the wrong color. So it was good practice before I get involved on the car. I think they turned out rather well for being rusty at painting.

I also had to replace all of the front suspension, all new brake lines, shocks, and front wheel bearing. Basically everything in the photo is now new. Hope to get back on the car soon. But you know happy wife, happy life.
