I'm replacing the tail pipes on my 67 R/T, and noticed that the hangers are not correct. I want to replace them with reproductions, but Accurate is backordered, and I haven't found anyone else who sells them. I'm down to having to use "parts store specials" until Accurate has them back in stock.

However, if I had a good photo of the originals, I might be able to fabricate duplicates myself. They can't be anything too complex. If anyone has originals (or the Accurate reproductions) on their car, and is willing to snap a couple of good photos, I'd appreciate it.

Cheers!

What do they look like? I might have a set from my 67 RT

That's the rub; I don't know exactly. That's why I'm looking for someone who has an original set. There are a few somewhat obscure photos on the internet, but nothing definitive. I think they're nothing but a rubber strap that bolts to the bottom of each frame rail with a large washer, then bends down and either terminates in some sort of clamp, or a tab that facilitates a muffler clamp.

Thanks,

JD

Do these look right?

If these are correct, YearOne has them.

Thanks for your response. The Year One website does list these as correct for the 67's w/turn-down tail pipes. But from what I can tell looking at some photos on line, these wouldn't be correct. A photo of a 67 R/T on the Gardner Exhaust website shows the tail pipes running directly under the "frame rails", so the offset in the Year One pieces would put the tail pipes out of position. I can verify that my non-original tail pipes also run in the same place, and I don't see how they could route anywhere different.

On the Gardner web site, their hangers essentially look just like the Year One pieces, but without the offset in the steel bracket. The rubber strap should run right into the top of the bracket portion that the clamp attaches to. I called Gardner to order a set of their hangers this week, but they will only sell complete systems, which I don't need.

I know that there were different vendors for different plants, time spans, etc., but just don't see where the Year One hangers would mount in order to line up with the tail pipe correctly. If anyone has experience with the Year One hangers, please share.

Thanks!

Is this the Accurate system same as yours?

Have you tried TTi?

Well, it looks like all the photos I've found of the tail pipe hangers look just like the ones on Year One's web site; even the ones from Accurate. I hadn't seen that photo on their web site. The price on the Year One pieces was $49.99/ea. but found the same part at Valley Vintage Auto Parts for $29.95/ea. Needless to say, I ordered from VVAP. I'll post an update when they arrive. I'm hoping for an "ah-ha" moment when I hold them under the car to see how they line up...

Cheers,

JD
