Hi to all I am replacing my fuel tank. Got the stuff from Lasons restorations. I am curious what size fuel line hose is best to use for both the vent tubes ( the one on the left that goes into a steel line then just goes into the atmosphere) and the one that comes from the trunk. It seems the old tank had 5/8 but not sure if this is correct. I know the sending unit is 5/8.

Also is their any easy way to install the steel filler tube into the gas tank neck? I bought the new rubber grommet for the neck but it seems very tight? Im afraid any lube may get into the fuel down the road or maybe I have to use a runbber mallet to pursuade it to go in. Thanks for any help.

It's either 5/16 or 3/8 hose from the factory. Wheel grease ain't gonna hurt your car, if it gets in the fuel.

That would be slick. However I don't get silicone anywhere on a car, unless it's needed. If you ever worked in a body-shop...you'd understand.

Your vent pipes are 1/4" hose. 5/16 or 3/8" for fuel line. Silicone/grease,etc on the fill pipe. Just changed my tank 2months ago-- get a strong 20-30 yr. old to twist& push; it'll go.
