So,you're saying ,install the pertronix and wire it to the coil as per instructions and it should work?
Yes. You also should be sure the coil is what Pertronix recommends.

I ordered the pertronix kit for a mopar electronic distributor #1381a.
They provide a plastic chopper wheel with magnets but it will not slide over the advance lever so it is obviously the wrong kit,so I don't know which one to order now.
I have an email into pertronix now.
Again,no idea what distributor I have. No markings on it.
I did some testing on the msd wiring and I have power going into it but no power to the positive side of the coil.
The led flashes 5 times which indicates the box is functionning correctly

Did you ask for a kit for a points distributor? If so that might be your problem. You have a 73 or newer electronic distributor. So you need to ask for a electronic ignition replacement. Myself I would of got a ready to run from a place like Mancini racing.

That is supposed to be what I ordered.I just discovered what the problem is. I ordered a 1381a kit but the contents are for a 91381a.

I found out my distributor is a 75 and newr electronic one. I test the msd box according to their guide and it checks. I have ordered a new pickup coil from rock auto and hopefully it will start.

Uhhhhh, no Bob. Read about all the success stories of folks who swapped from points to elec ign & found easier starting, better idle, more power, plugs no longer foul, etc.
Better head back to the cave before the light fades.....

This is my problem. There are no markings or numbers on my disyributor so Pertronix cannot tell me what kit I would need. They suggest ch-181 but is simply their guess.
Any ideas?
