I have a real nice running stock 73 340 and want to upgrade the ignition system. I bought a Summit ready to run one and had 2 fail on me with less than a 100 miles on them. I have in a my Ford 390 street cruiser for over two years with no issues and I like the performance and ease of tuning. Basically a knock off of the MSD at half the price. Needless to say i won't be buying any more of them. Pertronix is off the list, to many issues with them over the years. I'm looking at the MSD or Mallory more towards the MSD. Any suggestions.

I'm a fan of the GM HEI conversion. You purchase the adapter, ignition module, and correct coil using your OEM distributor for a much hotter spark. Cheap too!

Contact @Johnny Mac - he works for BluePrint Engines, and they had access to ready to run distributors for small blocks. I have one on my 408 BluePrint stroker engine....and it hasn't missed a beat.

I have a Mallory Unilite on my 340. No issues
