68/69 charger grill help

I need help bad.I just got a 68 charger and the whole front clip(fenders,headlight support,grill)are from a 69.I found a 68 grill center section.I've read that the centers do interchange between the 2 years but now a few people are telling me that they don't interchange and if I want a 68 grill I have to change everything including full grill and fenders.who's right on this subject?I've been hearing and reading different stories on the subject.the only thing I know is I've had my front clip assembled and in the car and can't see how the centers wouldn't interchange.I had to modify the rad support to make the fenders fit but that's all.I don't have access to a 68 center piece yet so can't line them up to see what's different about the mounting.when I ask people they tell me the cosmetic difference between the 2 (duh) but dont explain why they won't interchange in the support.can someone help me figure this out.

not sure if they interchange or not, but IF you can keep it 68, i would keep it '68....(.02)

Did you find the answers to your grille dilemma? Its been my experience that the only differences in the grilles for those two years is in the plastic only .. headlight doors, surrounds and the center section. Fenders, hood, front bumper & braces, steel grille/headlight support, headlight door actuators and wiring are the same for both years.

As someone posted earlier, I certainly would keep it all '68 if at all possible. Let me know if you need any pieces or help locating them. I recently restored a '68 and have a few connections plus a few leftover parts.

my friend wanted a GL so he bought a 68 and "switched" it to a 69 (yea I know)...he only switched out the grill and rear valance. Everything is the same as far as everything matching up.
