Hey folks,

Got a quick question. I have a stock distributor from a '68 383. Upon pulling it from the block, I see there is a thin flat steel ring that serves as a "gasket" between the distributor and the block. There is, however, no o-ring, nor is there a groove in the distributor body to accept an o-ring.

I don't know if this engine has been apart or not, but is this a stock configuration? I thought the distributor was supposed to seal using an o-ring, not a metal "gasket".

Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

Don't know when they started using O-rings . 1966 used metal gasket as you found on the 383.

Good enough! That clears it up....I just wanted to be sure that I do not need to jam the o-ring on there. I'll just use the flat metal ring.

Thanks.
