Welcome to the site, Revdoc. Good luck with your sale. A price is usually required, but if it's too high someone will tell you.

Hey Revdoc, I'm the one who msg'd you on FB to sign up here with your car. Photon is right you might get some grief because everything in the For Sale section needs to have a price so start with your asking and you will get plenty of feedback from people "in the know"

Mike

I'll throw my $.02 in since you asked. I see what appears to be some major rust issues once you start digging into it. That will require replacement panels or metal reconstruction from scratch, which in my opinion will take away from the value of the car. The price guides say $x for a car in #1 condition and that to me assumes a very clean original car that has been properly restored. Date correct or numbers match, etc.. A car that is X% AMD sheet metal should expect to be priced less than the super clean unmolested survivor. Unfortunately people still pay huge money for restored cars that have been put together from three donors and Chinese sheet metal and that is only good news for the seller and auction house. To get a ball park value take the price of a nice car then back out the cost estimate of body work, materials, mechanicals and interior.

I say not even that much. It typically cost more to restore than to buy already done. i see a 3 to 5 thousand dollar car.

I agree, but remember it is a 2nd gen Charger. These and 70 Cudas seem to be bringing more than they should in this market. I know because I have boughten 2 of them in the past couple of years - paid more than I would have liked. Throw the car on ebay and see what happens.

You need to answer the following before we can throw out a value.
Do you have the Fender Tag ? Is the Vin tag still there? What are the first 6 digits of the Vin? Where are you located

Sorry guys I was thinking if someone replied to this posting it would come to my "inbox" so this marks the first time I've ever been wrong, in the mean time. I've found out it is a 383 car, not a 440 R/T (xp29g8b) if you can prove me wrong on that it would be great, it does have the vin tag and it does match the title, car is on my trailer so I can't get inside of it at this time, I just bought it, drove 8hrs round trip and been at work every day light hour since, hopefully the fender tag is inside the car as there is a bucket with a lot of small parts in it as well as parts in trunk and in cab, it has the R/T grill and Gauge Bezel including what I think is called the. "Tic Tock Tach" speedo goes to a 150, hood has the R/T logo and blinker lights. I have bumpers and a butt load of chrome, tail Lights, trim pcs. Heater box, there is some rust issues on rear quarters, trunk pan, and about three to four holes on the rear frame rail, all of which can be repaired, I bought the car to resale but looking at it when I come out the garage in the mornings it's saying "restore me" so I haven't decided What to do yet, I've been told it's worth. $6500 all day every day, and if I wait it out there is a buyer out there for $10k I've heard this is the most desirable charger right behind the Hemi, you guys are the Mopar experts so school me, I do have a lot of people interested in it, but like I said I really don't know what I want to do with it. I do know I want it back on the Road where She belongs! Not parted out. T

Sent one to you but not sure it went, said there was an error, ?????

He followed your advice, its on eBay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dodge-Charg...c7925da41&item=191011084865&pt=US_Cars_Trucks
To me, a car that was bought last week for 3k, has no engine, transmission, radiator, etc is still a 3-4k car. Only voicing my opinion since he asked. I doubt he will see 6k, let alone the 8k he wants bids to start at. A running car, sure. A complete car, probably. A shell, I just don't see it.

I don't see it happening either. My previous post was based on the car being a r/t. Knowing that or is a xp charger I would say it is closer to the low end of my estimate. If someone thinks its worth 6500 all day, then let them fork it over. I know what surprises are waiting under that white paint.

Kincaid racing I sent you a message, don't know if it went through though

Looks like auction ended at $9,700!!! Proves the point made earlier in the thread!

It's funny just to put an exclamation point on the $9700 sale price I saw Revdoc posting on a MOPAR Facebook fan page trying to get a value for the car and there were probably 90 some replies mostly people telling him it was worth nothing.... I pm'd him and told him to come here and put the link up to get an idea what the car was actually worth and never doubt what a 68-70 Charger will go for.... Proof is in the pudding! A car is worth what the highest bidder pays!

I think the days of assigning value to original sheetmetal cars is gone. Original metal is usually junk, why keep it? Almost everything is made, get the best AMD, have a skilled worker or shop Blast it, and build it to a core roller, then, get a painter and body guy on it, then get an interior shop to do it right, then, powertrain. Four segments, and you got a plan!

A few years ago I sold a 70 charger. Original 318 but had a stout street 440 in it. Auto on the floor. Bucket seats with fresh upholstery. 4:10 8 3/4 rear. The car would go high 12's . It had some rust in the lower quarters and trunk but nothing like this car. It sold for 400 more than this. He got 9700 so good for him. He found a fool with money. He got a win. Did the new owner take delivery yet? I will keep my eyes on eBay for it to show up again cause the last winning bidder stiffed him. The winning bidder that comes out of nowhere with zero feedback.
