68 charger R/T barn find..

So was given the opportunity to look at carcus of the 68 charger RT 4 speed there was no running gear, floors and frame are real rusty but all the body panels were there, and roof looked nice the grille with the hideaway headlights were there and dash was still in the car.

This car has a title, I know it can be saved.. just the question is what's it worth.

Any 68-70 Charger can be saved, with all the AMD parts available. The question is how much is someone willing to pay for something they are going to sink 100K into? To try and answer your question probably 12-20K. Any other Mopar B body a max of about $7500.

Being a Charger R/T 4 speed car makes it pretty high on the desirable list. Does it still have the Dana rear axle,because that will make a sizable difference in value. I agree with the 12k to 20k assessment.

Chargers are basically at the "Whatever you want to ask, someone will pay" area... it's insane.. and that being a 68 (literally the only year charger worth owning) my opinion you will see **** that looks like it came out of a swamp after being hit by train with people asking 20k...

I see roller projects asking 30-40G's, but who is actually paying these ridiculous prices? I don't really see them selling though.

In today's market, with parts and labor so high, I don't think any project makes financial sense. At any price. Unless your plan is to flip it. The last 100 "projects" that I looked at online you would have double the money in the car than what you could sell if for. And it would take 2-5 years of your life of free labor to lose that money. Times have changed and this isn't the time for a project. A friend of mine called me one time wanting to borrow $200 to buy a project missing the drivetrain. 1968 Hemi GTX convertible. I told him he would be stupid to pay that when we can get him a good car for $2,500. He said "I'm not going to the bank to borrow money". I told him we can't get that project running for $2,500 and it will take a year to do it. But he was a low buck kinda guy, well I guess you could have figured that out since he didn't have $200, so I eventually gave in mainly because of perfect colors, blue, white top, white stripe, and white interior, 4 speed. That was the time to buy projects. All of them you could find.

This one sold for big money IMO. It is seriously rotted out... Looks like the Atlantic Ocean version..

I agree with your assessment of years of your life in labor, if you can do it yourself, or you'll pay high rates for someone else to do the body and paint work. Consider the cost of the parts to replace the rusted frame rails, floor pans, and probably trunk pan and then the labor cost to install them. Does the interior seating need to be replaced? If so that's another cost in material and installation. Then you need a drivetrain which if you don't have one hanging around, you have to buy it and will probably need to rebuild the engine and hopefully the 4-speed won't need to be rebuilt. See if the chrome on the front and rear bumpers are good. If not, there's another cost to replate them or buy good used ones. If it has a vinyl top and it needs to be replaced, that can cost more money in the top and the cost of installing it. Also check if there's any missing parts as that can cost you. When it comes down to it, estimate the total of the purchase price, cost of parts and labor, body work and paint job, drivetrain cost, upholstery cost, and the years you will have into the project, will the car be worth what you'll have in it? If you plan on keeping it, that's a different story. I'm just pointing this out because I painfully did all of this on my 1956 T-bird project way back in 1974. three years of my life and had way more money in it than it was worth.
