68 Dodge Coronet Restoration - 02/13/2021

Thank you much Mr. Budnicks. I appreciate your input. I needed an outside influence to keep me motivated on this project. This forum is exactly what I need to press on.
How much HP can I realistically expect to get out of this B block?
I had a 479cid 383/based 4.15 stroker, 4.290" 0.040" over
with a bunch of over the counter aftermarket parts
(about $7k parts worth in 2005, a lot of lil' stuff learned over the years)
that took a 3520# 68 RR on M/T drag radials,
to a best of 9.77 @ 135 N/A
& an 8.58 @ 156 with a 300-shot N2O,
easily 700+hp before N2O
(that's really pushing the capabilities of a 383 block based build)

500+ should be no big deal, even for a 383 block
& driveable/streetable too
But;
they are not the best block for building big power
the 400 is a better choice, with thicker main webs
has a larger bore too

really good flowing cylinder heads, professionally ported
would be a great start
they are the biggest choke point in any BB Wedge
if you really want to make some real HP IMHO

you should really start a thread in another appropriate forum section
this really is just the welcome wagon

I went beyond the normal answer my 1st response
& this one here too
(you being from Calif. & Antioch my old stomping grounds)
Remember this is just the welcome wagon
not really intended as a Q&A or tech section
more for sharing photos of your car/cars & stories
&/or introductions etc.

there's far more viewers in the other forums too

good luck
