68 gtx center console removal

[68gtx]

trying to pull out my center console, how does the top of the console come off? does the top( shifter plate ) need to come off first??

place car in park
screw top of gear selector counter clock wise(silver button)
remove silver button
top plate (2) screws inside of door remove
unscrew remaining screws inside of console
