my car had a home made fuel tank vent , i ordederd one from year one, two lines showed up , the long one goes up through the trunk floor and acrros the trunk and into the frame rail, but it also came with a short one.. i have no idea where it goes, can anyone help? i attached a photo of the short one... If memory serves me correctly, that short vent line attaches to the fuel tank on the vent outlet beside the one for the longer through the trunk floor one. There should be two outlets on the front of your fuel tank on the driver side.

It can only go on one way if you attach the mounting clip correctly, which holds it to the cross brace. I think my 69 senders have a vent tube on either side of the main line.

It just clips to the long one and vents as it is.One end to the tank and nothing to the other end

so it goes on the nipple next two the long one? wont fuel come out of it because its so short?

i keep having issues with this fuel tank it seems, most of my issues stem from the fact that the guy that built this car did things alot different than i would have,, yesterday i had the car jacked up really high in the front to replace the starter with a mopar performance mini starter (what a job that turned into) and gas pissed out from the back, i guess the gascap pissed it out due to the angle, is thuis common or is my gascap pootched.

The 68 book only shows a side view but this pic was in there. Hope it helps. The short line is next to the long one on top of this tank. My tank is the one on top but once again they dont show a goo pic. of that vent. If your looking from the back of the car it is the line on the right. You can see how it goes up and clips in and comes down ( the short line ).

Yes 68. I took a picture for you. I got my manual from year one but it has a lot of loop holes in it. Without this site. I would of been dead in the water. The book is a must but does not have everything.

thanks for the pic, last question, which nipple should the long and short one goe to? i got the long one on the nipple closst to the drivers wheel and the short to the one closest to the center of the car

You are correct. The book shows the long one on the one closest to the driver wheel and the short one on the right ( closest to the center of the car ) just like the picture shows looking from the back of the tank.

Check E-bay, they sometimes have factory service manuals there. If you get to swap meets, they have them quite often too although not cheap. You can also get them on CD for your computer, that way you can print out the pages you need without getting your manual dirty. I got my manual at Carlisle and my Cd off of E-bay. Good luck, they are out there and the best way to see how everything works. By the way the Haines and other books are junk compared to the FSM.

I'm with 70redbee on getting one on cd. Like he said print it out and use it in the garage, no worry about getting it dirty. Also a lot of times I'll write notes on them or highlight certain parts.
