68 Roadrunner 4 speed Hurst shifter handle seems too short...

I have had this car since 98. I'm an average size guy about 5'11" tall with what I figure is an average reach. Thing is I've always thought this handle was too short. I have to reach down for 2 -4 and lean forward to hit 1 and 3. From the pictures can anyone with one tell me if it looks right?

Looks to be an A-Body shift handle. For sure its not correct.

OE Hurst shifter is against my knee in my '69 Bee. Now you wanna reach, try a Inland console in a 66.

Better pull your boot and see what style you have. Bolt on or bayonet style. Brewers shows most all of them.

Yours is also bent under the boot in the wrong direction.

That a-body shifter is worth some coin, although I think it's a bit tall for an a-body, not as tall as the later ones though.

Well it wouldn't be anything wrong with recovering some of the cost of a new one from selling the old one.

Why not just go with a new competition plus?

Looks like someone heated up that stick and put an extra bend in it.
