In diagnosing why my tach doesn't work and my gauge cluster doesn't light up , I noticed that all the pins that connect to the round connector on the gauge cluster circuit board are loose. Some of them are also broken off in the connector. I figure I need a new dimmer switch also as there is no voltage coming out of it. My question, how do I fix the broken / lose pins on the circuit board? Do I just replace the board? Do I need a new harness,? If not how do I get the pins out?

Had the same problem on my 67 Coronet. I tried to solder them back without any luck. Finally got a new board from Classic for about $150 if I remember right. Good luck.

Had the same issue on my '68 coronet. I was able to solder mine. Took at steady hand. I used a little precision stand with alligator clips to hold the pins in place while soldering. If unable to fix yours, folks sell reproduction boards. Like mentioned by mightymopar, folks like Classic Industries, Premium Dash Decals and others sell them.

X2 my board is all soldered up from two used ones from ebay, about $15 each but between the three was able to get all the pins re enforced took some #12 awg at the first leg of the trace to pin but they are strong as hell now. pins inside connector are a bit questionable but work.

The pins on the board are pressed in originally and have small teeth that grab the board. you can carefully get them out and re use them but at some point you have to weight the cheap way vs just getting a new modern board and new version of voltage limiter. Just depends on your budget.

I'll just order a new board. Herbs parts sells them for $145 with voltage limiter. Question how'd you remove the stuck pins from the connector?

Good call, I love Herb's good people there. Stuck in the harness connector? Just use tweezers and pull them out or push on the cable side so the whole thing pops out of the holder then separate. worst case you can cut them all off and but new ones then re connect.

I'd just solder the pins. It's not that hard to do but you have to clean off the conformal coating on the board. Need to have bare copper traces to solder to.
