68' RR WONT START

Did you try messing with the bulk head connectors?. If there's no power at at the coil try jumping it. Run a wire from your battery to your coil. If it starts you Will have to disconnect the wire before it will shut off

What you are describing happened to me and this is how I hurry rigged it to get my car home it was a poor connection at the bulkhead

1st off does it then over and act like it wants to start but doesn't? Or does it not turn over at all ? If it turns over and acts like it starts bet doesn't then try what I said

I tried this when I got home today and still won't start.

This may be a stretch. But have you look at the distributor w/o the cap, while somebody else is in cab cranking engine over to make sure it's turning?
2 bad distributors? Totally possible but possible something else

Check the pick-up coil gap and make sure the mounting screws didn't come loose and open the gap to wide. The box needs to get a signal before it will fire. The Pick up is nothing magical, it's just a little generator the closer you are to the magnet the better the signal and the faster you spin it the more voltage. If it slipped you won't get a signal and it will quit just like you described. Anywhere from .008 to .012 and it should make enough voltage to trigger the box.
