68 Turqoise and white Charger

In October of '67 my dad ordered a '68 Charger 383/727 combo that was turqoise with a white interior and top. We would like to find the car if we can. We do know that we have the certicard which as we all know will have the vin #, but just have not been able to locate it after my dads passing in 2008. The last we saw of it was in the 90's we found it for sale in north Texas I believe close to Denton(?) with a newer paint job that was close to the original color(door jams were not painted). It had a 440 transplant with what I remember to be centerline wheels on it. As soon as we can find the certicard I'll repost message with vin #. But in the mean time does this car sound familiar to anyone? We still have the original turqoise steel wheels and dog dish caps in storage (that only have about 30 miles on them). My brother and I sure would like to find this car again!

Here's an update. Went down to the DMV, and all I got was the third degree-"well why do you want to know?" It was almost like I was an honest thief if there is such a thing. Anyway I couldn't get anyone to help me so here is the vin # XP29H8D186765. Spread the word y'all.

Sounds like you got a jerk there. Dont give up at the DMV. Its like any other government office, ask a question 10 times, you get 10 different answers. Tell them the story and ask if they can tell you if the car is still titled in the state at least. dont let one douchebag dmv worker stop you. I'm sure there are others that will feel for you and want to help. Find an empty office one in a small town and ask a guy [better chance of getting a gearhead]. Most people really do want to help you. Better yet, have the wife do it and have her say its her late fathers and its a quest for the "grieving widow". There might also be some companies online that can do it for a fee, like background checks. Good luck.

after 911 they are a ton more privecy acts and they wont give out any info anymore

Ask the police department to run a stolen vehicle check on it and then tell them your story and they may feel for ya and tell you if its registered in the state. They wont give you the ROs address but its a lead and you can go on the internet and start looking. I found my dads Roadrunner this way. I had a name to go on but I think you will be successful because you have a VIN. Good luck. ZABA search is your friend.
