Real 68 Hemi Roadrunner help

True I mean who knows how long that engine has been together. Could be close to rebuild time . Tough decision for sure

I would be inclined to keep what you have now.

plain its a built car , not fac
Ok I'm excited I'm going to look at a 68 Hemi Roadrunner Tuesday. Suppose to be a real Hemi car. I'm pretty sure fender tag is absent and build sheet. The vin is correct for a Hemi Roadrunner J code obviously. What else can I look for besides the vin matching the core support and rear drip rail on trunk gutter. Never owned a Hemi car I'm sure there should be be torque boxes as well plus a Dana. Are the torque boxes just on front of leaf boxes not the back. It has a Dana not sure if it's original or not. It's doubtful it's the original engine as well. There is some talk about it being built by Keith Black back in the day. It's set up for drag racing right now but it's not been back halved still original frame.

plain its a built car not factory , would I buy it if I had the coin ? yes if its in good shape...

Well guys good things come to those who wait. I passed on that car. A few days later a real 69 GTX Hemi car comes up for sale about 250 miles away. Good thing about the 69 is all the numbers match the body. Does not have original 426 but at least it has a 426 in it lol. This thing is like a barn find still sporting original paint. All the gauges work and even the rear defroster works. Has the torque boxes, the reinforcement plates at rear of spring perches, skid plate and the pinion snubber reinforcement . Hopefully I get to keep the car but will probably need to sell my 69 Roadrunner with a Redeye Hellcat engine.

Great move - and aligns so well with your present forum name.

Congrats, there's nothing like driving a good running Gen2 Hemi! Good luck and enjoy it.

Call Kieth Black Racing Engines and ask what identifying marks that they put on the engines they build.

Out of curiosity, what are you asking for the hellcat swapped Runner? I see you mentioned wanting to sell it. Thanks.

Minimum probably 65k if car was show quality I'd ask over 100k easy. Pm if interested

It looks good enough to keep as is?
Problem is you'll 3-4x your investment in it once you start which would mean you could not start and keep both cars

You should look at it a lot closer all the guys have good comments just the little things, hokey hookup on gas line and heater hose could 't afford a better one :praying:

Perhaps look at it from this angle. If you were to obtain a halfway decent body, take it down and do metal & paint. Re-do the interior, upholstery, etal. Add the engine/drivetrain that's in it now. Plus all the undercarriage/suspension, etc. What would be your total cost ? Then... compare that number to what the seller is asking. And only you can decide if that car is worth it for you.
Excellent answer!
Forget the "original j-code HemiCar". Can't be proved one way or another.
If you want it on a "nice roadrunner with a hemi in it" basis, do it.
