Just purchased my 1st B-body 1968 383 4 speed car white with red interior. Car was in the south east flood. I purchased her from an auction and found out she was at Mecum 2024 houston and was not sold. A car dealer earth Motor cars near Dallas texas sold her to a buyer in the south June 2024. I bought the car out of West Florida and thinking the owner may have been a B-body only member. Car was listed at mecum with the build sheet. Earth Motor cars won't lift a finger to assist. Would love to keep the cool authenticity factor going with the build sheet.

I was watching that car but I didn’t have anyone down that way to go look at it in person. How high did the water get. Very beautiful car btw. Congrats

Nice! Congrats and welcome. I own the automatic version of that car. White over maroon is a rare combo for the ‘68 as most white ‘68 bees were black interior. Does it have a fender tag? You can verify the car and options with that tag. I can help you decode if you need it, just PM me. Also check Superbeeregistry.org to see if your car is registered there.

The water line sticker was low but learned you can't trust it lol. They went through and pulled most of the water out. It's the body and paint along with the color combo that made it worth buying to me. My 4 classics all are metallics which personally I'm not the biggest fan of but my last two buys are honey yellow and this white bee so I'm looking forward to getting them both dialed in. Ya I rolled the dice on it. I didn't even pay the extra $99 for the enhanced pics LOL but I probably wouldn't have bought it if I saw it all it might have scared me away

I wish! The tag was also missing in the Mecum pics unfortunately. Mecum says they dont have a build sheet copy

Suggestions:

1) A member of Dallas Mopar Club might have seen the car when it was in Carrollton or know more about the car. Contact them.

2) Send "Earth MotorCars" a letter asking for additional information they may have on file. Include copies of paperwork showing you own the car. Address the letter and envelope to the Sales Manager or the business owner. The Texas Secretary of State has a website for business searches and it will identify the owner/business agent. Also, don't send an email or contact them through their website. Don't telephone them, but you already know that.

3) You live in Texas and the car has spent time in Texas. Go to your local DMV with a Form VTR-275, Request for Texas Motor Vehicle Information. You can download their PDF form from
TxDMV.gov
TxDMV Home | TxDMV.gov

Good luck.

Your car is a dead-ringer for the one at the Street Mag Show Hamburg.

See the picture uploaded to flickr by Dennis Matthies on on February 1, 2015. Maybe your car was brought back the U.S.A. in the past years.

Maybe there is a connection. Check with the Dallas Mopar Club to see if they know anything about your car.

Just a note that "Streetside Classics" is in Dallas/Fort Worth and Tampa. That is to say...

Earth Motorcars in Dallas sold (or traded) the car to Streetside Classics in Dallas and then they shipped the car to Streetside Classics in Tampa.

Definitely worth a phone call on the dallas/tampa connection. I had found the flicker photo as well before posting the request on here. I noticed the tires were different but still possible of course but with one picture I doubted there would be a way to find the owner. Thank for putting the time into it I do appreciate it! Finding the build sheet would be a great thing to me. Not for resale value but for nostalgia. Probably going to start pulling the heads off this weekend.

You could try using a good borescope camera to look inside the cylinders if you're worried flood water got inside the engine.

Any water in the oil pan?

Curious as to how a guy makes sure all the moisture, be it regular water, or salt water, gets out of all the overlapping metal joints on a car like this so it doesn't rust out? Strip it down to a bare shell and bake it in a paint booth?
