69 383 HP carb

I dont dispute it all
I spoke to my buddy at dealer there is no way to tell from parts listing which was the HP motor
when you went to the dealer back than for a replacement you needed the tag to get the exact replacement

Trust Doug aka 69Coronetrt.

What he is telling you is absolutely true. Many people don't know that when you ordered A/C in a Super Bee or RR in 68-70 they got the 330 h.p. engine rather than the 335 h.p. magnum engine. They were identified by their color difference.

Hi D. Hope all is well.

You are correct for 68 and 69. By 70, there was an orange 335 horse A/C assembly.

Every year (68-70) had different applications as to what went into B bodies. The engine assembly, and therefore the carb, depended on the model, A/C or not, and transmission in 68 and 69. In 70, you have to also take into account emissions (N95) and Airgrabber/Ramcharger hood (N96).

The best way to confirm which actual carb came on the car is via the broadcast sheet as there were mid year changes.

thanks for the info unfortunately I have neither a broadcast sheet or a fender tag:sad:
the good is I have a numbers matching motor which was orange
the original manifold was swapped out for an Edelbrock torker and a holley 850 along with a 509 purple shaft :edgy: why the previous owner choose that combo with P/S and P/drum brakes i in a convertible is beyond me
I am trying to restore the car as original as possible and correctly

OK. You have a B body convertible which tells me it's not a Charger. (No Charger convertibles) You also say the original engine was orange meaning the car did not have A/C. (A/C equipped cars had turquoise engines) Therefore....the correct carb for your car is:

Manual tranny - 4615 Carter

Auto trany - 4682 Carter

I'm curious why 4682 and not any of the others listed in parts list?
the only 4bbl 383 auto no A/C in list that has Belvedre listed first is the 4638
is there any rhyme or reason?

Why?...because that's the carb that came with that application. I think you are reading too much into the parts book layout. Which model line comes first really doesn't have anything to do with the question.
