69 70 charger tail light bezels

Base models have no chrome trim. 69 R/T's have the chrome trim. 70's do not due to the rear trim panel. 69' also do not have a reflector in the lower center where 70's do have the reflector.

Not all 1970 Chargers had the decorative aluminum piece on the taillight panel.

All 69 Chargers had the chrome bezels and silver stripe on the lenses. 70 Chargers had different lenses with reflectors and no stripes painted on them. Base model 70 Chargers XH vin, had the chrome bezels like the 69 Chargers, see Dave's picture above. All other 70 Chargers XP/XS vin had the reflector lenses with no chrome bezels, because they had the aluminum finish panel surrounding the taillights. My mom's 70 Charger R/T SE shown in the photo with the rear finish panel trim.

Not all 1970 Chargers had the BIG reflector. January 1 1970 carried with it some Federal mandates including bumper regulations and lighting.
Note the big reflectors in these lenses:

Neither of my '70 Chargers have these lenses because both were built in December.

Are you sure the door handles were original? Should of been black.

No. The change to chrome buttons was a mid 1969 change.

Right, my Charger was built March 4 and has the reflectors in the lenses.

Sorry for hijacking this thread. :realcrazy:

I'll post some '70 taillight bezel pictures tomorrow to make amends. :)
What a week. Sorry for the delay in posting pictures of my spares.

The Charger 500 panel (top pic) has an odd color cast to it and the Charger panel bottom pic) is very shiny everywhere:

Below are my panel and taillight lenses. They have never been removed from the car as far as I can tell. Any "chrome" on the taillights would be hidden by the panel of course.

The panel fits nicely if you ask me.

Yeah, yours have those bigger reflectors too.
Mine do reflect light but probably not as well as they would with the added rectangle portion.

Are the taillights below supposed to have the gray striped paint in them?

I'll have to look closer to them. I thought I recalled seeing a 1970 molded into them.

EDIT:

I just looked. The lenses in Jigsaw have 69 molded into them but have no decorative trim around them. These lenses could be from a '69 model.

Thanks Wayne, tomorrow I will check mine to see if they have the line on them.

Are the 69s the only ones with the trim paint on the lense? I thought

Thanks for the photos, DeltaV...I guess my panel looks the same as yours, I can also just barely see the mounting clips when looking down from above, same as your photo here. I figured the panel would fit more snugly, but I suppose the Mopar fitment quality on these was less than ideal.

69's have split trim on the taillights, like the split grille. One chrome "ring" around each taillight.

70s have a hoop around both lights, like the hoop front bumper.

The rectangle reflectors were a mid-year change due to DOT regs changing. My survivor has the single hoop around both lights, and no silver or chrome on the red lenses at all, with the rectangle reflectors. The only change on my '70 is that someone - probably when they repainted it in the wrong shade of green, back in (I guess, because it's single stage) the late 70s or early 80s - painted the taillight surround black like a '69, instead of body color like it should be for a '70.
